About La Costa Gourmet
La Costa Gourmet was born from a genuine love of great artisan coffee and tea. At LCG we also love and respect the planet and its inhabitants, therefore, many of our beans are certified fair trade, meaning that we participate in a socially just system which agrees to pay a guaranteed fair price for coffee.
We think it's worth a little extra to get fair trade and help some of the 25 million struggling families who farm coffee worldwide to survive. While we in the U.S. may pay much as $4 bucks for a cup of java, many of those families barely make that much a day producing coffee beans.
LCG also tries its best to buy organic. It's better for you and better for the earth. Luckily we live in a time when more farmers are taking the time and trouble to grow organic coffee. Additionally, many of our coffee varieties are from long term relationships with small family farms that have been in the business for generations and pride themselves on quality and consistency.

A letter from the President:
My passion for stellar coffee began as a hobby, and before long this passion turned into La Costa Gourmet. After years of investing my time in the trade, I became very well-versed in high quality teas and coffees. Everywhere I went, from Brazil to Kenya to India, I sought out great coffee and the planet's most dedicated artisan coffee roasters and tea masters. Soon I had developed relationships with U.S. craftsman who had long established alliances with foreign growers, many with generations of experience. These "family ties" translate into superior coffee beans, fine quality estate teas, European Cocoa, and spicy, sensual, addictive Chai tea. ALL available here!
We have also made a conscious decision to carry Fair Trade coffee. This certification guarantees that the coffee is produced in safe working conditions, and that the farmers receive a fair price for their commodity. We at LCG think the fair trade system lets us make the world a slightly better place. By purchasing fair trade coffee, consumers, like yourself, can feel confident they are helping small-scale farmers to live better lives, while also supporting the U.S. companies and roasters committed to world-wide social responsibility.
